Local Songs and Children Storybooks
Merck Foundation believes that songs add significant value to influence the culture change. In partnership with African First Ladies, Merck Foundation has created over 30 songs on Breaking Infertility Stigma, Supporting Girl Education, Women Empowerment, and Diabetes Awareness in English, French and Portuguese languages.
Moreover, it is also an honor for the Merck Foundation to receive 3 special songs composed and sung by The Former President of Liberia, H.E. Mr. GEORGE WEAH; The Former First Lady of Burundi and ITEKA Lucky Louange (Lucky-Lou), the daughter of the current President of Burundi, H.E. Mr. EVARISTE NDAYISHMIYE & H.E. Madam ANGELINE NDAYISHMIYE for “Merck Foundation More than a Mother”.
Merck Foundation, together with their partners, the African First Ladies, has released 8 inspiring children’s storybooks on various issues like breaking infertility stigma, supporting girls' education, women empowerment, ending child marriage, diabetes awareness and more, in English, French and Portuguese language.
- “More Than a Mother” Storybook has been created for children and youth to emphasize and strengthen family values of love and respect from an early age.
- "Educating Linda", an inspiring storybook that has been created to promote Girls' Education in African communities.
- "Make the Right Choice", a storybook to raise awareness about coronavirus prevention amongst children and youth.
- “Ride into Future” a storybook to emphasize on the importance of empowering girls through education.
- “Jackline’s rescue” a storybook to focus on the importance of Girls' Education and highlight the immoral practices of society including child marriage and the dowry system.
- “Not Who You Are” a storybook to teach boys to love and respect their future wives and eliminate domestic violence.
- "Sugar-Free Jude" a storybook to promote a healthy lifestyle and raise awareness on the early detection and prevention of Diabetes.
